Bonus Blue Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Bonus Blue?
Bonus Blue is the frequent flyer scheme offered by Blue Islands to both leisure and business customers. It allows you to earn points on ALL scheduled flights and ALL routes. Reward flights incur no additional taxes and charges and are absolutely free, unlike most other competitor schemes.
- How do I become a Bonus Blue member?
Applications can be made online at Bonus Blue by registering for an account.
- How will I receive my registration details?
An email will be sent confirming the registration has been successful along with your registration details. Using these details members can log-in and earn points for each booking. Points are allocated once your travel is completed.
- How do I ensure I earn points for all future bookings?
Bonus Blue members can start earning points as soon as you receive your login details. Simply login to your account to make all future bookings. Any bookings which are not made when logged into your account will not be eligible for points.
- Is there an age limit?
You have to be 18 years old or over to register for an account, although under 18's can be members on an account to earn and redeem points.
- Is Bonus Blue for business or leisure?
Blue Islands offers a scheme for both business and leisure travellers. These schemes are called the 'Bonus Blue Business Account' and the 'Bonus Blue Household Account'. Both schemes earn and redeem points in the same way.
- Are people allowed more than one account?
Customers are allowed both one Bonus Blue Household Account and one Bonus Blue Business Account.
- Do the points have an expiry date?
Your Bonus Blue points will remain valid for 2 years after the flight date. If you have not used your account to either earn or redeem points within a two year period then your entire points balance will expire.
- How many applicants can join Bonus Blue?
For the Bonus Blue Household Accounts, the Primary Member can invite up to six additional family members living at the same residential address to join a Bonus Blue Household Account (making a total of 7 members).
For the Bonus Blue Business Account, there is no limit on the number of members permitted to join.
- Can I pool points with other members on my account?
All Reward Points earned by the registered members on the account will be credited to the overall account balance. Any registered member on the account can then use these Reward Points to purchase scheduled flights with Blue Islands. As such, Reward Points are always pooled together.
- Can I use points from my Bonus Blue Business Account to purchase flights on my Bonus Blue Household Account?
Points cannot be transferred from one account type to the other. However, you will be able to book a reward flight for someone else if they are not registered on the same Bonus Blue account, although that person will not earn any Bonus Blue points.
- Can I open an account by calling the Customer Care team?
Bookings made by telephone are not eligible for points except bookings made for Persons with Reduced Mobility and Unaccompanied Minors who can register for an account by telephone (all accounts must be opened by an adult aged 18 or over) as well as making Bonus Blue bookings and reward flight bookings by telephone.
- Who is a Primary Member?
The Primary Member is the person who sets up the Bonus Blue Account and then chooses to add additional members to the account. The Primary Member who registers the Bonus Blue Account will receive all communications concerning the account and is responsible for maintaining correct details for each member.
Primary Members are able to view, edit and delete credit cards on the account, add members, change member settings, view and download travel statements, and make and change all live bookings.
For Bonus Blue Household Accounts, only one Primary Member is permitted per account and this is the person who registers for the account.
For Bonus Blue Business Accounts, more than one Primary Member is permitted. The Primary Member who registers the account can add additional Primary Members or Basic Members to the account.
- Who is a Basic Member?
For Bonus Blue Business Accounts only, Basic Members can view and change individual live bookings. They are not permitted to view credit card details, add users or change user settings, view and download travel statements or view all "live flights".
- What do I do if I forget my login details?
Household account customers can retrieve both their Bonus Blue Login Membership Number and Login PIN by going to the "Bonus Blue" heading on the homepage and selecting either "Retrieve Bonus Blue Number" or "Reset Bonus Blue PIN". If you are logged into your account and would like to retrieve membership numbers of other members on your account, you will be able to do this in the "Manage Members" section.
Business Account customers will not be able to retrieve their passwords online and will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org with the company name and email address to retrieve their password.
Primary Members of business account customers will be able to retrieve individual member User ID's in the "Manage Members" section of their Bonus Blue Account.
- How do I change my login details?
If you are a Business Account Primary Member registering the account, you can change your password in the "Manage Members" section of your Bonus Blue account. For security reasons, we strongly recommend that all new Business customers change their primary password the first time they login to their account.
When setting up additional members on a Business account, the Primary Members are able to choose the login ID and passwords for additional members. All additional members will receive an email confirmation that they have been added to the account with their unique membership details.
All login details can also be retrieved by emailing email@example.com stating your name, title, company name, email and company ID and we will then contact you to verify your account details.
Household account members can reset their PIN numbers by clicking "Reset Bonus Blue PIN" from the "Bonus Blue" dropdown menu. A new PIN number will then be sent direct to the registered member.
Household members can request their Bonus Blue Membership Number by selecting "Retrieve Bonus Blue Number" from the dropdown menu and entering the details requested.
All login details can also be retrieved by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org detailing your name, email, and Bonus Blue number. A member of our team will contact you to verify you account details.
- Can Bonus Blue Business Account holders apply to pay by invoice?
Business customers will be able to set up a business account online to pay by credit card. To pay by invoice, please set up a Business account online and then email email@example.com stating your full company name, address and your Bonus Blue Company ID (as shown on your Bonus Blue email confirmation).
A member of the Blue Islands commercial team will then contact you directly to discuss the application process and criteria for invoice accounts.
- How many points will passengers earn?

- I have just signed up for Bonus Blue. Can I earn points retrospectively for previous flights?
Points cannot be earned retrospectively for flights booked before an account is opened. To earn reward points for flying with Blue Islands, members must log-in and book through their Bonus Blue account. Any Business Advantage vouchers issued or due, including part accrued vouchers have been credited to new Bonus Blue accounts.
- Are there any circumstances where I cannot earn points?
To earn Reward Points for flying with Blue Islands, members must log in and book through their Bonus Blue Account.
Bookings made by telephone are not eligible for points except bookings made for Persons with Reduced Mobility and Unaccompanied Minors. Industry discount tickets, agent discount tickets, promotional fares, group fares, inclusive tour fares and corporate rates, complimentary bookings, prize winners, group booking and third party bookings are NOT eligible to earn Reward Points.
- Can I collect points for my children's flights?
If your child is between 2-18 years and you have made the booking, you will be able to collect points on their flight - you can receive their points automatically along with your own if you book through your online Bonus Blue account, but only if the passenger is named on the account. The exception to this is Unaccompanied Minor bookings, which must be made by telephone.
- Can I book flights for someone other than myself?
Bonus Blue members are able to book reward flights for anyone they choose, however if they are not a member of the same Bonus Blue Account, that person will not earn Bonus Blue points.
- If I am a Bonus Blue member, can I book a flight for someone else not registered on my Account?
You will be able to book a flight for someone else if they are not registered on the same Bonus Blue Account, however that person will not earn Bonus Blue points.
- When will my points appear in my account?
If you have booked your flight through your Bonus Blue Account, your points will only show once travel has been completed. Blue Islands will record reward points to the Bonus Blue Account within 5 working days of completing the flight.
- I’m a previous Business Advantage customer. What has happened to previous Business Advantage vouchers?
The Business Advantage awarded the reward (voucher) at the time of booking. The Bonus Blue scheme rewards the points earned once the flight has flown. Any vouchers (now points) earned on a previous business advantage account will have been migrated to the new Bonus Blue account. Bookings made under the old Business Advantage scheme (before 19 December 2012) have already have been credited to your new Bonus Blue account, therefore no additional Bonus Blue points will be acquired for these flights after they are flown.
- What redemptions will Bonus Blue offer?
The redemptions are for travel on ALL scheduled flights on ALL routes across the Blue Islands network subject to availability.
- How many points do I have to earn in order to redeem them?

- If I redeem my points for flights, are they completely free?
The points will cover the total cost of the fare including government taxes and airport charges and there are no additional charges to pay, unlike some competitor schemes. Bonus Blue is unique in offering truly free flights.
- Are there any restrictions on Bonus Blue flights?
Bonus Blue reward flights are available on ALL scheduled flights and ALL routes, subject to availability. See Bonus Blue terms and conditions for more details.
- Is there a different redemption value for children?
The value for children over the age of 2 is the same as an adult.
- Is there a different redemption value for infants?
Infants can neither earn nor redeem points. Please note that if you are booking a Bonus Blue reward flight and are travelling with an infant, the infant will travel for free in this instance.
- Does it have to be a return flight?
No, you can earn and redeem points on both single and return flights.
- Can I use my Bonus Blue points to book an Unaccompanied Minor booking?
Members may use their points to make an Unaccompanied Minor booking. This booking will need to be made via the Customer Care Team by telephoning +44 (0) 8456 20 21 22.
- Can flight redemption bookings be made through the Customer Care Team?
Members can ONLY book reward flights online using their Bonus Blue account. The only exception to this is the booking of Unaccompanied Minor travel and bookings for Persons with Reduced Mobility.
- How do I make changes to my redemption booking?
All changes can be made online by logging into your Bonus Blue Account and clicking on 'Manage Travel'.
- If I make a flight redemption booking and need to change it, what do I do?
Flights can be changed up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time of the flight the passenger is booked on or the flight the passenger wishes to change to using the following rules: Changes are permitted at no charge subject to availability of the same class of fare.
- If I make a flight booking and need to change the name, can I do that?
Name changes are permitted up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time for free.
- If I make a flight booking and need to cancel, will I get my points refunded?
Bonus Blue points are non-refundable, however you may change your flight if Bonus Blue flights are available - for free.
