Guernsey

Fly to Guernsey from £37.
For the perfect mix of stunning scenery and the best of contemporary living, Guernsey is an ideal destination. It is also a thriving business centre, with finance being the main industry on the island.
Guernsey has some great activities from which to choose, from thrill-seeking coasteering to walks along the cliff paths, or lazy days on the beautiful beaches. St Peter Port is a bustling harbour town with boutique shops and a wide range of restaurants or bars if you want to sample some of the local cider and beer.
The island also has a fascinating history; World War II can be
seen as a defining moment of
Guernsey's past, with the Occupation resulting in the evacuation
of the island's children. Today you can visit the Occupation Museum
or the Underground Hospital for fascinating insights into war-time
occupied life. Plenty of remaining fortifications can also be seen
on the coastline.
St Peter Port, the island's capital, is a bustling harbour town, a tapestry of architectural styles that tell the story of the region's changing fortunes. Here bistros, restaurants and boutiques jostle for your attention, while in the harbour ferries are readied to take you to the sister islands.
Guernsey is an ideal springboard to visit the smaller sister Channel Islands of Herm and Sark too. These idyllic car-free havens are just a short boat journey away, if you want to get away from it all.
Sark is famous for its refusal to kow-tow to the motor car. The
result is a timeless world of bicycles, horse drawn taxis and lazy,
alfresco lobster lunches. Remember, in Sark there is no word for
stress.
Herm Island has been home to Neolithic man, monks, pirates,
quarrymen and a colourful collection of tenants including hapless
Army officers, a Bloomsbury author and a Prussian Prince. Nowadays
the subtropical flowers, white sand and tranquillity of this
unspoiled beach paradise still cast a powerful spell.
