Direct Flights to Zurich and Geneva
Jersey will have more flights direct to both Zurich and Geneva from the end of October. Flights will operate to Geneva and Zurich six days a week (Sunday to Friday). This improved frequency represents an increase in seat capacity of 100%.
These new direct routes represent another significant milestone both for the airline and for the finance industry in the Channel Islands.
The airline started the Swiss link from Jersey last year flying alternate days to Zurich and Geneva. Further improvements followed in the summer schedule with both destinations being served on a triangular routing.
Derek Coates, Chairman of Blue Islands says: ‘We recognised a long time ago the potential for routes to both Zurich and Geneva and we are pleased that within the space of a year we are now able to offer this direct service to both destinations.’
For the leisure traveller, both Zurich and Geneva offer straightforward and convenient transfer links to most of the Swiss and French ski resorts, many of them just over an hour’s drive from either airport. On a reciprocal basis these daily flights provide easy access for Swiss leisure travellers to enjoy the charms of our islands.
Paul Sabin, Managing Director of Blue Islands, says: ‘The additional flights direct to our Swiss destinations is a reflection of passenger demand, particularly from the business community.’
The new Swiss service will continue to be operated by a 31-seat Dornier 328 aircraft.
