Additional Saturday service for Bristol

Blue Islands is delighted to announce extra flights to the popular twice daily Bristol schedule to and from both Jersey and Guernsey. The additional midday Saturday service will be available from 29th March 2014, in time for the busy summer season.

The introduction of a Saturday service will provide an extra 1500 seats on this route during 2014. Blue Islands has been operating twice daily flights to Bristol since April 2011 and has carried over 50,000 passengers during this time.

Managing Director Rob Veron, looks forward to providing more flights for Blue Islands' passengers.

"As a locally based airline, we are committed to the serving the islands. It is important that we make sure a Saturday service remains. Bristol has been one of our greatest success stories to date, illustrated by our requirement to replace the 19 seat Jetstream aircraft with our 48 seat ATR aircraft in March 2013. Our Bristol service has been popular for both business and leisure travel thanks to the ideal morning and evening flight times."

Bristol, situated in the heart of the West Country, is an incredible destination boasting some of England's finest countryside stretching out in all directions from the city. It is also in close proximity to some wonderful coastal resorts, from the regal Georgian architecture of Bath, to the honey-coloured houses and villages of the Cotswolds. There is so much to see and do within a short distance of Bristol.

The city is host to a number of shopping centres and superb restaurants including the renowned Raymond Blanc's Brasserie. In addition, many make the journey Bristol just to see the world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Brunel.

The improved schedule to Bristol also gives the public more access to the Channel Islands.

Rob Veron, Managing Director is very pleased to be able to assist with tourism into the islands.

"The increased capacity provides further opportunity for inbound tourism. 70% of passengers during the summer months are visitors to our islands, therefore an additional Saturday service will provide more travel options for tourists. It is vital we continue to keep the Channel Islands on the map and transport links are key to this. Since we began operating the route in April 2011, the total market has increased by 35%, with Blue Islands taking 47% of the market share. This clearly demonstrates the demand for a great schedule and the honest, transparent 'welcome difference' that we at Blue Islands pride ourselves on."

Group Commercial Director for Ports of Jersey, Myra Shacklady, who leads the air route development team at Jersey Airport, says, "I am delighted to see an increase in capacity on the Bristol service offered by Blue Islands. The Channel Islands have always been a popular destination for visitors from the West Country and increasing capacity allows for a greater number of passengers, both visitors and local residents alike, to experience the high level of service and benefits of travelling with Blue Islands."
