Here's Why You Need to Book our Guernsey to Cardiff Service

Blue Islands' Guernsey to Cardiff has launched for summer 2018, fly direct to the Welsh capital every Tuesday and Saturday until 1 September 2018. And with fares from £39.99 one way, now is the perfect time to book.

But what’s in Cardiff once you’re there? Well, this:

1. Cardiff International White Water Centre

Pack your swim shorts and head to Cardiff International White Water centre and checkout the indoor wave simulator. Perfect for if you either hate the beach, or miss Guernsey’s golden sands during your visit, each session includes expert instruction on how to get started and how to make the most of riding the jets of water. It’s also possible to ride side-by-side, which could make a great family YouTube video. The only thing’s necessary? A sense of fun and determination: which counts out the author of this blog.

2. Cardiff Castle

Follow in the footsteps of the most famous couple on the planet by heading to Cardiff Castle, which is exactly what Prince Harr and Meghan Markle did earlier in the year. Located smack bang in the middle of the city, its history stretches back some 2,000 years and contains a Roman Fort and Norman Keep, among others. But it’s not just ancient history which people can learn about during their visit, as the tunnels were used in the Second World War as air raid shelters.

3. Cardiff Ski and Snowboard Centre

Want to combine a trip to Cardiff with a sort blast on the alps? Then, great news – at the Cardiff Ski and Snowboard centre, you can do exactly that. The outdoor dry ski slope, 100 metres long, gives you a less leg-breaky chance to see if you’re actually any good. A little history lesson, it was one of the first dry ski slopes in Britain, built in 1969. Now it’s fully up to date, there are a range of freestyle features including a full stair set, a rainbow rail, whale tail, box kickers and a quarter pipe – hopefully by the end of your visit you’ll understand what those words mean.

4. Zip World

This last one isn’t near Cardiff. It is, in fact, a four hour drive. But it’s totally worth it, especially if you’ve always want to fly but lacked the superpowers to do so. Up at Zip World (in Snowdonia National Park), you can take a mile long zip wire, where you’ll reach speeds of 100mph over heights of 500ft. It’s only four hours from Cardiff…

5. Food

Exploring a new city means you need to keep fuelled, and with unbelievably great restaurants throughout you won’t be stuck for choice. But as you don’t want to waste time deciding where to go here’s three of our favourites. Breakfast you can do no better than Stag Coffee. This – and there is no other word for it – epic joint will set you up perfectly for a day’s adventure. Crucially, it also serves breakfast all day, a good thing for two reasons: 1, it means if you oversleep, it’s no bother – you can find bacon, beans, eggs and hash browns, and 2, if you like their breakfast that much, you can enjoy at tea time too. Anyway, they serve Coaltown Coffee signature blend, homemade iced tea and lemonade, delivered alongside breakfasts of such proportions you’ll wish you ordered one between you.

For dinner, look no further than The Grazing Shed – voted the number one burger joint in Wales. This haven of meat-patty perfection careful makes its food to those award winning heights and extends thought to the names as well. Fancy feasting on a “Bunga-Bunga” burger? Then this is the joint. How’s about eating “John Wayne”? No problem. This artful production even extends to their own-made sodas too, including a rather scrumptious cherry bakewell flavour, sitting alongside strawberry and elderflower. What more could you want? (warning: checking the menu online makes you seriously hungry – but also desperate to go).

Oh and we mustn’t forget the pressing need to have a drink, and with the city riding the true crest of the craft beer wave you’ll be spoilt for choice. Head over to Westgate Street to be at the epicentre of what the city has to off, and you’ll find yourself torn between the city’s BrewDog and the epic Urban Tap House where you’ll lose hours of your holiday working through the 16 lines available. It is a truly magical place.
