Jersey junior triathlete heads to Bristol for UK competition with #mybi Flight Fund

After winning his category in June’s Jersey Triathlon, 11 year old Filip Nowacki fulfilled an amazing opportunity to travel to Bristol and compete against UK Triathletes as a recipient of flights awarded by the Blue Islands #mybi Flight Fund.

This was the first year Jersey Juniors entered the Bowood House Triathlon which is a qualifier for the Inter Regional Championship (IRC) team. Triathlons have become hugely popular in Jersey, the junior club alone has over 100 members.

On a sunny and hot day, Filip and 50 other competitors in his age group started their race, which saw them complete a 300 metre swim, 6km cycle and 1.8km run. As a holder of 14 Hampshire County Champion titles, Filip managed to exit the water in the top two and after a 500 metre run to transition, he and his teammate stayed in top three going into the cycle section of the race. Being strong on his bike, Filip secured second position starting the run, which was longer than British Junior Triathlon Standards; Filip completed the race and finished 4th overall and 1st Jersey boy which secured him a place in the Jersey IRC Team.

After finishing, Filip was very happy and said it was the toughest Triathlon he has ever competed in.
