New Director of Engineering at Blue Islands

The Blue Islands management team continues to grow with the latest addition, Philip Mitchell as Director of Engineering. Phil brings a wealth of experience from the aerospace industry, having served in the Royal Air Force for twenty years across operations and engineering roles and working with a range of aircraft including Tristar transport aircraft, Harrier combat aircraft and Helicopters.

During his last tour of duty, Phil worked as Chief of Staff for Air Operations in Afghanistan before moving to Bristow Helicopters as Global Director of Operations. In addition, Phil worked as Senior Engineering Director at Bombardier trains where there are many similarities between trains and planes for best practice safety management systems and procedures.

Rob Veron, Managing Director says, 'Phil assumes a primary responsibility for aircraft engineering and continued safety and airworthiness; leading the vital functions across supply chain, supplier development, engineering, fleet support, engineer training and technology and applications to provide high quality, cost effective support solutions for Blue Islands.'

As well as a plethora of experience, he has a degree in Aerosystems Engineering an MSc in Quality and Reliability Engineering from Exeter University and undertook a part-time MBA study at Birmingham University. Phil is a Chartered Engineer and became a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society in 2009.

Blue Islands has very genuine and professional teams at both Guernsey and Jersey and I look forward to making a positive and demonstrable contribution to the efficiency of its operations leading the engineering and support teams at what is an exciting time for Blue Islands.'
