Blue Islands, the Jersey-based airline, has suspended operations with immediate effect and is considering its options.

All Blue Islands flights have been cancelled.  Passengers expecting to fly should not go to the airport unless they have made alternative travel arrangements with another airline.  For those with Blue Islands reservations:

  • For bookings made directly with Blue Islands, please contact your bank or provider of the payment card used to make the booking;
  • For bookings made through our codeshare partner Aurigny but travelling on a Blue Islands flight, please contact Aurigny directly – some flights may still be operating;
  • For bookings made through a travel agent or holiday company, please contact the company through whom you booked for advice and guidance.

“After 26 years of serving the Channel Islands, we deeply regret that Blue Islands has this evening suspended its operations,” said a spokesperson.  “After very constructive dialogue with Government of Jersey in recent months, including what we understood to have been ongoing assessments of the future options, we were informed this afternoon that they are unable to provide further support.  This has meant that we now need to suspend flying immediately whilst we consider the options available and how we can help our customers, staff and stakeholders.”

Inbound European charters

Summer inbound European charter programme takes off

BLUE ISLANDS BRINGING ANOTHER 5,000 GERMAN, SWISS AND DUTCH VISITORS IN 2024

The first in an extensive series of charter flights for incoming European visitors to the Channel Islands takes off Saturday 13 April, with a Blue Islands ATR 72 aircraft flying the first guests from Stuttgart to Jersey.

Over the summer ahead, Blue Islands aircraft will be operating 80 roundtrips from 15 different departure points in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland to fly incoming visitors to the Channel Islands. With charter flights radiating as far afield as Berlin, Zurich, Groningen and Rotterdam, the airline could fly up to 5,000 guests to Jersey and Guernsey for this summer’s charter programme.

Rob Veron, Blue Islands CEO said, “We’re proud to play our part in welcoming visitors to our beautiful islands this summer. Operated by our Jersey and Guernsey-based aircraft, flight crew and cabin crew, the activity highlights the contribution to the visitor economy of a locally-based airline being the trusted airline partner to service a broad range of requirements from European tour operators.”

The series of flights could generate over 37,000 visitor nights in the Channel Islands, equivalent to filling a mid-size hotel for an entire year and up to an estimated £5 million visitor spend into the local economies.

Notes:

The summer 2024 charter programme commences Saturday 13 April and will see flights operate from 12 departure points in Germany: Berlin; Braunschweig; Bremen; Cologne/Bonn; Frankfurt; Friedrichshafen; Hamburg; Hannover; Memmingen; Munster/Osnabruck; Nuremburg; Stuttgart. From Groningen and Rotterdam in the Netherlands and from Zurich, Switzerland.

Tour operators

Charter flights can be booked via the European tour operator chartering Blue Islands' aircraft for the journey, and cannot be purchased directly from Blue Islands with the exception of Zurich flights.
