Blue Islands, the Jersey-based airline, has suspended operations with immediate effect and is considering its options.

All Blue Islands flights have been cancelled.  Passengers expecting to fly should not go to the airport unless they have made alternative travel arrangements with another airline.  For those with Blue Islands reservations:

  • For bookings made directly with Blue Islands, please contact your bank or provider of the payment card used to make the booking;
  • For bookings made through our codeshare partner Aurigny but travelling on a Blue Islands flight, please contact Aurigny directly – some flights may still be operating;
  • For bookings made through a travel agent or holiday company, please contact the company through whom you booked for advice and guidance.

“After 26 years of serving the Channel Islands, we deeply regret that Blue Islands has this evening suspended its operations,” said a spokesperson.  “After very constructive dialogue with Government of Jersey in recent months, including what we understood to have been ongoing assessments of the future options, we were informed this afternoon that they are unable to provide further support.  This has meant that we now need to suspend flying immediately whilst we consider the options available and how we can help our customers, staff and stakeholders.”

Supporting Channel Islanders with flight funding

BLUE ISLANDS ANNOUNCES NEXT ROUND OF FLIGHT FUNDING BENEFICIARIES

Blue Islands is excited to announce the next round of beneficiaries for its flight funding programme. This initiative, launched in 2019, continues to enable Channel Islanders to pursue ambitions and opportunities that may not be possible without the support of free flights.

Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands said, “From sport, charities, art and personal enrichment, there was an incredible range of aspirations showcased in a record number of applications which is testament to the amazing talent, dedication and passion of Channel Islanders.”

This latest round of flight funding sees 300 free flights worth over £25,000 awarded to beneficiaries in sport, charities and the arts.

Winning U21 and U14 competitions, Archie Greier, 10, from Jersey, is a gifted snooker player that regularly plays in UK tournaments, and just one of the many flight funding beneficiaries from this latest award.

After winning the U21 Bronze championship in Swindon in May, and learning that he has become a flight fund beneficiary, Archie said, “I'm so happy that I finished off the snooker season with a victory. I've won three Cuestars tournaments now and hoping to win more when it starts again in September. I now move up to Silver level having been Bronze level for just over a year, and with flight funding support from Blue Islands, I can enter many more events and hopefully get more experience and bring back more trophies to Jersey.”

Rob added, “From year-round connectivity to flight funding, we’re proud to play our part in supporting our Channel Islands community to take opportunities to achieve their goals. We look forward to sharing the wonderful achievements of Archie and many of our other beneficiaries over the coming months.

The achievements of just some of the previous recipients are showcased here.
