Enhanced wellbeing - fly with confidence

The continued safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is always our highest priority which is why we have implemented enhanced wellbeing measures which includes all customers aged 11 and above wearing face masks.

There is an exemption to the requirement for a face covering for customers with medical grounds, such as respiratory difficulties. If you meet the exemption requirements, you may be asked to present supporting government documentation

This is one element of a series of enhanced wellbeing measures we have implemented which include:

  • Microbe Shield surface protection in the cabin
  • Aircraft touch point sanitation procedures
  • Cabin air is continuously replenished with fresh air every 5 - 7 minutes, the cabin may be slightly cooler than normal, therefore you may wish to have a jumper to hand
  • Seat allocation to maximise the distance between passengers in the cabin where possible.
  • Reduced contact points, with the exception of safety cards, all seat-back literature has been removed and there is no inflight service

We look forward to welcoming you on board.

Freedom to Fly - Jersey Airport 11-12 November 2017

What a weekend! Blue Islands was proud to host Jersey’s first ever Freedom to Fly course, which saw 20 people randomly selected from over 300 who applied have the chance to overcome their fears of flying.

Before the course, everyone completed a questionnaire detailing their fears – some said they would get on a plane, but hated every second of the experience, some have to take medication and others said they wouldn’t get in one, even if it would save their life. We wanted to change that.

And to do so, the Blue Islands Training Manager Chris Stubbs started the course with a presentation of every single aspect of aviation; from how planes are designed, to regulations, the processes which occur during flight and anything and everything in between. He also answered each and every question put to him, helping to allay people’s anxieties. The afternoon session was taken by Mo Bury from Momentum Training who outlined how everyone could cope, manage and overcome their fears.

But the next morning was the big one: getting on a specially scheduled experience flight. Following a brief recap, everyone checked in, went through security and headed for the plane. Some people hadn’t taken a flight in more than a decade – and with a considerable strength wind blowing, they knew it wasn’t going to be the smoothest of flights. Which didn’t stop one of them.

The plane took to the skies, and everyone put what they had learnt into practice, and successfully completed the flight. It was incredible to see the transformation in just 24 hours, and as soon as the course finished, people said they were off to book their next holiday. One person even hopes to return to America, where they left more than 30 years ago – but hadn’t been able to return home because of their fear of flying.

A massive congratulations to everyone who came along and managed to conquer their phobia. Blue Islands hopes you are all now able to take holidays which, just days ago, you felt unable to do so. Share your stories, share your pictures and remember you now all have the Freedom to Fly.

Thanks to Jersey Airport for helping us provide the course
