Blue Islands fly in Goalkeeper for Guernsey’s Green Lions

Ex AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper, Callum Stanton will head up the Green Lions’ last line of defence for another season, thanks to sponsorship from local airline, Blue Islands.

Stanton will be between the posts for this season’s first league game at Footes Lane against Ashford United as Blue Islands has again agreed to fly the goalkeeper from Southampton to Guernsey for every home game, giving Islanders a chance to see Guernsey's No.1 in action.

Stanton’s talent earned him Young Player of the Year and Fans' Player of the Year awards and was named AFC Bournemouth's Youth Team Player of the Year 2016-17 after an impressive season for the side's youth team and is now also a coach at the Premier League club’s academy.

Nic Legg, Guernsey FC’s director, commented,

Callum enjoyed a fantastic season last year; Blue Islands support was fundamental in allowing this to happen. We are delighted and extremely grateful to Blue Islands for continuing to support the Green Lions this season and we’re sure that fans will join us in showing their appreciation to the local airline for enabling us to keep our No.1 between the sticks.

Brent Blondel, Blue Islands Commerical Manager added,

We understand what a significant role Guernsey FC plays in the community, that’s why as a local airline, Blue Islands is delighted to be able to help with Callum’s travel and we wish the team the best of luck for the season

Fans can keep up with Callum on social media where he will be sharing his journey, training tips and videos. Follow @blueislandsofficial on Facebook and Instagram.

The first home game of the season kicks off this Saturday 18th August at 2pm against Ashford United.
