Blue Islands, the Jersey-based airline, has suspended operations with immediate effect and is considering its options.

All Blue Islands flights have been cancelled.  Passengers expecting to fly should not go to the airport unless they have made alternative travel arrangements with another airline.  For those with Blue Islands reservations:

  • For bookings made directly with Blue Islands, please contact your bank or provider of the payment card used to make the booking;
  • For bookings made through our codeshare partner Aurigny but travelling on a Blue Islands flight, please contact Aurigny directly – some flights may still be operating;
  • For bookings made through a travel agent or holiday company, please contact the company through whom you booked for advice and guidance.

“After 26 years of serving the Channel Islands, we deeply regret that Blue Islands has this evening suspended its operations,” said a spokesperson.  “After very constructive dialogue with Government of Jersey in recent months, including what we understood to have been ongoing assessments of the future options, we were informed this afternoon that they are unable to provide further support.  This has meant that we now need to suspend flying immediately whilst we consider the options available and how we can help our customers, staff and stakeholders.”

5,000 extra seats added to Bristol this summer

Blue Islands has added 5,000 additional seats on its Bristol services this summer. The airline will operate a further 76 flights between the Channel Islands and Bristol, a city often regarded as one of the coolest in the UK and Europe.

Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands said,

With additional flights on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays throughout the summer, there’s now even more seats and a choice of convenient flight times on the Bristol service operated by Blue Islands, perfect for weekend travels.

In addition to the 14.40 departure (15.55 Saturdays and 14.15 Sundays), the Jersey - Bristol service will see extra flights at 11.15 on Mondays and Fridays with the additional Sunday flight departing slightly earlier at 11.00.

Nigel Scott, Business Development Director, Bristol Airport said,

We are delighted that an additional 5,000 seats will be available to passengers wishing to fly this summer. The extra capacity offers a greater choice and flexibility of flights whether passengers are using Bristol Airport as a gateway to the region or selecting to fly to Jersey and using the service to connect between the Channel Islands.

Mr Veron added

For added connectivity, our services are timed to also enable Guernsey residents to fly on Blue Islands operated services via Jersey to Bristol. What’s more, the extra flights also provide added choice for visitors wishing to fly to the Channel Islands to discover the beautiful islands of Guernsey and Jersey this summer.

On arrival at Bristol Airport, the ‘Airport Flyer’ bus service runs up to every 10 minutes meaning it’s a seamless transfer to the city centre, while the ‘Air Decker’ bus service will take you from the airport to the spa city of Bath in about one hour.

Blue Islands is a Flybe franchise partner, all Blue Islands operated flights can be booked at flybe.com.
