MEDIA STATEMENT: 14 NOVEMBER 2025
Blue Islands, the Jersey-based airline, has suspended operations with immediate effect and is considering its options.
All Blue Islands flights have been cancelled. Passengers expecting to fly should not go to the airport unless they have made alternative travel arrangements with another airline. For those with Blue Islands reservations:
“After 26 years of serving the Channel Islands, we deeply regret that Blue Islands has this evening suspended its operations,” said a spokesperson. “After very constructive dialogue with Government of Jersey in recent months, including what we understood to have been ongoing assessments of the future options, we were informed this afternoon that they are unable to provide further support. This has meant that we now need to suspend flying immediately whilst we consider the options available and how we can help our customers, staff and stakeholders.”
Bringing dogs & cats to the Channel Islands just got easier
Travelling with your dog or cat between Jersey and Guernsey, and Southampton or Exeter just got easier! Blue Islands, the Channel Islands' airline, is delighted to announce that from 1 March, dogs or cats will be able to travel on flights with their owners, making it simpler when planning a trip or bringing a new dog or cat home from the UK.
Rob Veron, CEO of Blue Islands, said: “We understand the unique needs of islanders, and we’re proud to provide a comfortable and stress-free way for families to travel with their pets or bring new dogs / cats home to Jersey or Guernsey. Whether you’re travelling, relocating, or bringing a new pet from the UK, we’ve created a seamless process to ensure a safe and smooth journey.”
With flights between Jersey, Guernsey, and Southampton or Exeter typically taking less than 50 minutes, travelling by air is a much quicker and more convenient alternative to longer ferry journeys. The short flight duration minimises stress for both pets and their owners, ensuring they arrive relaxed and ready to enjoy their time together. Dogs / cats will travel safely in an approved pet carrier, which will be transported to and from the aircraft by the owner, who must be on the same flight and the pet carrier will be secured in the hold.
Rob added: “This initiative comes in response to growing demand from our community, especially from families looking to bring dogs and cats home to Jersey or Guernsey from the UK.”
This new pet transport service is available for travel from 1 March 2025, with bookings open now. For further information and booking process:
