MEDIA STATEMENT: 14 NOVEMBER 2025
Blue Islands, the Jersey-based airline, has suspended operations with immediate effect and is considering its options.
All Blue Islands flights have been cancelled. Passengers expecting to fly should not go to the airport unless they have made alternative travel arrangements with another airline. For those with Blue Islands reservations:
“After 26 years of serving the Channel Islands, we deeply regret that Blue Islands has this evening suspended its operations,” said a spokesperson. “After very constructive dialogue with Government of Jersey in recent months, including what we understood to have been ongoing assessments of the future options, we were informed this afternoon that they are unable to provide further support. This has meant that we now need to suspend flying immediately whilst we consider the options available and how we can help our customers, staff and stakeholders.”
Supporting Channel Islanders pursue individual and shared ambitions
Blue Islands is excited to open applications for its latest round of flight funding, once again providing Channel Islanders with the chance to chase ambitions, showcase talents, and unlock opportunities that may not be possible without travel support.
Launched in 2019, flight funding has provided over 500 flights for island-based charities, organisations and individuals to travel for sporting competitions, training, performances and more. The aim is simple – to give access to experiences and opportunities that will have a positive impact and enrich the lives of islanders.
Blue Islands CEO, Rob Veron said, “Flight funding is one of the most rewarding things we do. We see countless inspiring stories of islanders doing incredible things – from island athletes competing on the national stage to local charities making a big difference in our communities. These achievements not only enrich lives but also strengthen the unique sense of place that makes our islands so special.
“We’ve supported many individuals including Archie Greier (snooker), Grace Greenwood (para-athlete) and Hannah Silcock (table tennis), groups such as Essential Dance and Guernsey Air Cadets, plus amazing charities including Channel Island Air Search, Healing Waves, Family First and Brighter Futures. We’re excited to see the next round of applications, and helping to support Channel Islanders whether it’s sport, art, enrichment or development.”
Flight funding is open to applications from anyone based in the Channel Islands whose activity will help them achieve something that would not otherwise be possible. Successful applicants could receive flights for themselves, their team, or their group to attend events, access specialist training, or take part in activities that put the islands on the map.
Applications for this round close on 28 September, and successful recipients will be announced later in the year.
